2017 Dodge Challenger Review

Dodge Challenger looks like one of those legendary American cars that you’ll see in movies from the 80s. It has always reminded me of Mustang but these two cars are completely different. The Challenger is a very practical car and comfortable car which comes with a decent engine. The 2017 Dodge Challenger is going to continue this tradition but since the last model got numerous improvements we cannot expect more than subtle refreshments. It looks both sophisticated and muscular and is a great combination of a traditional American car and modern technology. Even though new Challenger won’t come with staggering upgrades it doesn’t mean this car doesn’t have any advantages. Surprisingly it offers plenty of room for passengers at the back which is quite rare for this type of cars. Also, fuel efficiency has been enhanced but first things first.

2017 Dodge Challenger Design

The best thing regarding the design of the 2017 Dodge Challenger is color palette. It comes in numerous different colors such as Plum Crazy Pearl Coat, Bright White Clear Coat, Jazz Blue Pearl Coat etc. Keyless ignition is becoming more and more popular and even the previous model had this system. Dual-zone climate control has become standard and automatic headlights as well. 18-inch wheelbase remained untouched and LED running lights also stayed completely the same. Auto-dimming review mirrors are a handy feature. Generally, nothing has changed in terms of exterior thus we might see significant modifications with the following model.

Similarly to the exterior cabin should retain the same look. There is a 5-inch LCD screen on the dashboard with USB port and SD card slot. The steering wheel comes with shift paddles and it is the biggest upgrade regarding interior this year. It is wrapped in leather as well as front and rear seats. Rear seats can be folded providing more space for cargo. Additional features of the 2017 Dodge Challenger which can be added are: rearview camera, 20-inch wheelbase, 8.4-inch LCD screen, and HD radio.

Powertrain

Contrary to the interior and exterior there is no much reliable information about the engine. There are so many rumors on the Web that you just don’t know whom to believe. Therefore, we consulted several different sources and made our estimation regarding engine lineup. We’re almost certain the 2017 Dodge Challenger is going to have a 6.2-liter eight-cylinder under its hood. This unit should be capable of delivering 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. Information about fuel consumption is contradictory but in our estimation EPA rating stands at 19 mph in a city and 23 mph on the highway. However don’t take this to the bank since it might be even better than these assumptions. Two transmission systems are expected – eight-speed automatic and six-speed manual. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4s while the top speed is 176 mph.

Apart from the 6.2l different variants of a new Challenger may also come with additional engine options. These powertrains should have different performance which means different torque and fuel consumption. Under the bonnet of SRT and Scat Pack variant, a 6.4-liter eight-cylinder is expected. The 6.4l is coming with an output of 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, this is all we know about this engine at this point. There’s still a lack of information about shifts, driving system and fuel economy. As soon as these are released this article is going to be updated so stay tuned with us. In addition, we may even see few more options for other variants.

Price and Release

Price range is huge since there are several trims. Price goes from $20,000 to $58,000 for a top fully-equipped model. It should be seen on the streets in the first quarter of 2017 but until then we can hope Dodge will provide more info about the engines.
