We must admit that we’ve neglected luxurious vehicles thus we decided to present 2017 Lexus NX. Despite many believe that Lexus is an American company, it actually comes from Japan. Its headquarters are placed in Nagoya, the third largest Japanese city, and it is a subdivision of Toyota.
This company is one of the top companies in this field of the market and is very popular in North America. Lexus is a synonym for a luxurious car, and NX is becoming more and more popular every year. It was originally introduced two years ago as a subcompact crossover. Since then NX has got some minor modifications, and 2017 model is going to be slightly modified as well. Like every other vehicle it has its pros and cons and here are the most important ones.
The present model comes with the 2.5l inline-4 unit, but Lexus decided to change the engine lineup this year. The 2017 Lexus NX is going to have two different powertrains. On one hand, there’ll be a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with an output 238 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque. It can develop 124 mph, and it goes 0/60 mph in slightly under 6.9 seconds. Fuel consumption is considered to be around average since EPA rating stands at 22 mpg and 28 mpg in a city and on highway respectively. It is mated to the six-speed automatic gearbox.
On the other hand, there is a big surprise. Unexpectedly, Lexus announced a hybrid unit for this model. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder should be accompanied with an electric motor, and allegedly they will develop approximately 200 horsepower. We’re still waiting for more information about this unit, but it is definitely great news. Fuel economy should be much better, and it’s great to see that Lexus is switching towards a green energy.
Interior and Exterior
This allegation should be the greatest advantage of the 2017 Lexus NX but it has a lot more to offer, especially in terms of design. In general, it takes after luxurious cars manufactured by German companies (Mercedes and BMW in particular). It borrowed some style solutions from M-class and X7 but still looks unique.
Thanks to a front grille new NX can diversify itself from similar cars in this segment. There are no cars which have a grille that is even similar to this one. LED daytime running lights are placed below headlights while the taillights are going to be reshaped. The diffuser is huge and comes with two exhaust pipes. It seems this crossover is going to look sportier than its predecessors.
Even the cabin looks sporty. Don’t get me wrong, the 2017 Lexus NX is a luxurious vehicle that looks just a bit sportier than the previous model. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather as well as the seats. They look exactly the same as before but technology is coming with the biggest upgrades.
It is believed that new NX is going to get a new infotainment system. At this point, Lexus is still unsure what features it is going to include, but it’s likely to have: park-assist, dual-zone climate control, some additional sensors, etc. It’s absolutely comfortable having a ride inside this crossover since you can’t hear the engine.
2017 Lexus NX Price and Release Date
Since Lexus NX 2017 is a luxury car you may say it costs an arm and a leg but the truth is it actually doesn’t cost so much. If we suppose you are not on a tight budget, then $35,500 for this crossover won’t be too much. Luxurious cars usually have a higher price, but new NX is below the average.
Japanese automaker didn’t release any info about the launching. However, we heard through the grapevine that it may come in the first quarter of 2017, or even in the last few months of 2016. But stick with us and we will keep you posted about any update that will come.
Take a look at the previous version while we wait for the 2017 NX.
