2018 Nissan Juke Price, Release Date and Engine

The Juke has been first released in Europe back in 2010 and since then it didn’t change much. Even though Nissan tried to improve the car throughout the years, the basic design, as well as most of the interior, remain identical to the original. While some expected a revised look for the Juke, it seems Nissan is skipping an update altogether. Instead, a new model is going to be released with the 2018 Nissan Juke.

This new model will get a new design with a less polarizing style. The new car is also going to be based on a new platform. Instead of using Renault’s old B-chassis, the new model will be based on Nissan’s larger CMF-CD platform. This also underpins the Rogue as well as the new Rogue Sport. With it, the Juke will become better to drive, more comfortable and most importantly, larger.

The new design won’t be the only change for the new car. One of the problems with the current model has always been its engines. These were usually not as powerful as a funky subcompact crossover had to be. Also, the Juke’s age was quite obvious inside the cabin where it featured very little equipment in comparison to its main rivals. A release date has not been provided by Nissan so far.

However, it seems that the new model might be showcased by the end of the year. The price is expected to remain in the neighborhood of the older model. A starting point of $22,000 would allow Nissan to squeeze the Rogue Sport and give 2018 Nissan Juke plenty of features to offer it great value for money.

Design

As we said, one of the major problems with the Juke has been the way it looked. Even though some loved the way it looked, most people hated it. Because of that the Juke barely sold 34,000 units a year in its prime years. This is considerably less than the competition. Nissan’s CEO said that the new car would get a less mainstream and edgier design than before. We do hope that they will manage to offer the less mainstream design without offering something odd. The concept they showcased a while back was quite good looking. Instead of the massive lower headlights and unusual top headlights, the concept featured a more modern approach. The boomerang-shaped daytime running lights on top and the squared-off headlights would make for a much nicer overall design. Also, the larger V-shaped grille and the black inserts would complete the look for something edgy but still not as mainstream as its rivals. Just like the Micra, the 2018 Nissan Juke will more than likely receive a raked roof and rear doors with their handles hidden. This would get it quite close in design to its newest rival, the Toyota CH-R.

Inside the Cabin of new 2018 Nissan Juke

Even though the Juke offers plenty of customization options, the interior is just old at this point. The new car is expected to receive a cabin derived from that of the Rogue. Instead of the usual center stack though it will more than likely receive a brand new design for it. Some suggested that Nissan will face the center console towards the driver in order to create the impression of a cockpit. The car will also receive their latest infotainment unit and their latest safety features, most of which will be standard.

Under the Hood

In Europe, the car is available with a wide range of engines starting with a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated inline four all the way up to a 1.5-liter diesel. The US model only gets an 188 horsepower 1.6-liter turbo four which is quite potent but let down by the standard CVT gearbox which also happens to be the only option. The 2018 Nissan Juke is expected to hit the market with three powertrains with the US model receiving only one. The European model could get a 1.2-liter turbo four with 120 horsepower and a 1.6-liter turbo four with over 200 horsepower. A 1.6-liter diesel with up to 130 horsepower is also a real possibility. The US version is expected to get a revised 1.6-liter turbo four with as much as 220 horsepower but at this point it hasn’t been confirmed. Also, instead of the usual CVT the car may receive a dual-clutch six-speed transmission.
