If there had been a car that set the world on fire, it was definitely Mustang. A strong and attractive car has become a legend and a dream of many. Every Mustang had an outstanding design, but the engines were exceptional. Some rumors appeared about 2017 Ford Mustang, but it’s too early to guess exact performances thus we’ll talk about the current model, 2016 Ford Mustang.
Ford Mustang 2016 Review
As well as its predecessors current model looks impeccable, almost flawless. Fuel consumption is its weakest point but this car is not for those who are on a tight budget. You must come to terms with that if you want a strong and powerful engine, you need to neglect its fuel economy. 2016 Ford Mustang is a great combination of cutting-edge technology and retro style.
Designers and engineers work hard in order to create an ideal combination of old and new. It is a tough task since the market is relentless hence they need to take an extra mile every time they are designing a new model. The current model is top-notch, and it has best of the both worlds. It comes with several innovations, but there are also some old forgotten features. It might not be affordable for you, but it is definitely going to set some new standards in a car industry.
Performance and Fuel Economy
The 2016 Ford Mustang comes with four different engines, but one of them is available only for Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R. The base engine is a 3.7-liter six-cylinder. It comes with an output of 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. This engine has quite decent fuel economy, but it’s least powerful. EPA estimated ratings for this unit are 17/28/21 mpg for a manual transmission and 19/28/22 for an automatic gearbox.
The second choice is 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-4, 93 octane fuel. Comparing to the 3.7l it has slightly more power but fuel economy is just outstanding for a Mustang – 22/31/25 mpg and 21/32/25 mpg for a manual and automatic gearbox respectively. All things considered, we recommend this unit since it has great power-fuel consumption ratio.
Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter eight-cylinder delivers 435 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque. Combined fuel consumption for both automatic and manual transmission is 19 mpg, way lower than the 2.3l. The top choice is a 5.2-liter Flat Plane Crank eight-cylinder, only available for GT350 and GT350R. This unit is able to deliver 526 HP and 429 pound-feet of torque while the EPA estimated rating is 16 mpg. The manual transmission is the only available option while the others can come with an automatic gearbox with optional Paddle Shifters. All four trims have a rear-wheel drive. Top speed is 185 mph while the acceleration is superb, from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. Mind-blowing!
2016 Ford Mustang Interior and Exterior
All of those trims are going to look alike, but each and every one of them has some special design characteristics. 17-inch alloy wheels are there as well as automatic xenon lights. Ford started using keyless ignition technology several years ago thus the 2016 Ford Mustang is equipped with this technology. Standard features are air-conditioning, LED taillights, automatic xenon headlights, blind-spot monitoring, HD radio, etc.
Several trims are going to have several features different than the base model. For instance, EcoBoost Premium is coming with 19-inch wheels and color-accented leather upholstery. Four people can fit inside the 2016 Ford Mustang, but the GT350 and GT350R can accommodate only two persons. Several packages are available, such as Pony package, Black Accent, and California special package.
2016 Ford Mustang Price
Pricing depends on the trim thus price range goes from $24,500 to $33,000. 2016 Ford Mustang V6 is currently the cheapest in this family while the top version is GT, as you might expect. It doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, but it is not available for everyone.
