2017 Chevrolet Malibu Review

They say don’t judge a book by its cover thus, we’ll take a sneak peak at the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. There is scarce information about this sedan, but we consulted several reliable sources. Photos of this sedan appeared several months ago so you probably already know how it looks but we’ll try to give you additional details about it. To tell you the truth it is not one of the most anticipated cars of 2017, but this doesn’t mean it has nothing to offer. One of the best things about new Chevrolet Malibu 2017 is the price. It is quite affordable and comes with improved fuel economy. Chevy took an extra mile and tried to provide more for the same price. It comes with same old styling, slightly refreshed, though, but first things first.

Under the Hood

We’d like to start this review with an unknown detail of the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu – the engine lineup. There are two possible solutions – the 1.5-liter four-cylinder and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. The first one is just fine since it comes with an output of 160 HP and 184 pound-feet of torque. It’s available with L, LS, and 1LT trim levels and all of these three have a front-wheel driving system. Fans of manual transmission won’t be delighted since it has only the automatic gearbox. On the other side, the 2.0-liter is for all those who need a stronger engine.

It can pump up 250 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels. It also comes without the manual transmission, but it is going to have eight gears, two more than the base engine. If you compare EPA ratings of these two engines, you’ll easily notice that the first one is more efficient. It uses 5 liters less (26 mpg to 36 mpg). Both of these engines have a top speed of 130 mph, and it goes from 0 to 60 mph in 8 seconds. Obviously, the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu is not the fastest sedan but 8 seconds are just fine.

2017 Chevrolet Malibu Design

New Malibu is coming in numerous different trim levels, but it’s hard to tell the difference which one is which on the first look. There are many optional features (too many to enlist all of them) that depend on the trim level. You can get additional safety by installing special safety package. Among the most popular optional features should be the sunroof, upgraded leather upholstery, heated seats, heated mirrors, four-zone automatic climate control, etc. This is the very first time that Malibu comes with a four-zone climate control thus it would be interesting to see how it will function.

Technology is top-notch, and I bet you didn’t expect that. Smartphone integration has become a standard as well as MyLink Infotainment. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are gradually becoming a necessity, and all serious car manufacturers are trying to have it. 4G LTE connectivity was part of the 2016 model, and 2017 model won’t be different. Besides all these features there are also satellite radio, LED lights, dual exhaust tips, etc.

Exterior of the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu won’t be significantly changed. It stays elegant and modern as before. There are plenty of available colors, but our choice is Blue Velvet Metallic. Rear passenger won’t complain since there is enough space for three people.
