Honda announced that brand-new 2017 Honda HR-V is going to hit the market next year. The 2016 model is currently one of the most popular vehicles on the market produced by this Japanese manufacturer. However, the previous model has several drawbacks that Honda tried to leave in 2016.
Changes and Competence
The most important modifications were focused on these flaws. The infotainment system doesn’t deliver the goods, and most of the complaints were related to it. The majority of customers are dissatisfied with the current solution, thus, we can expect that 2017 Honda HR-V will come with the upgraded infotainment system. One thing we know it will change for sure is the engine. Although the previous engine was just fine certain fans and customers expected more power under the hood. Therefore, new HR-V is coming with additional horsepower and torque. Of course, there are more modifications but these two we find the most important. However, don’t expect anything revolutionary since it is not the right time for a huge makeover. It’ll have several direct competitors such as 2017 Fiat 500X, 2017 Nissan Juke, and 2017 Mazda CX-5.
Engine and Safety Features
As you can read in the first paragraph, 2017 Honda HR-V is going to get the more powerful engine. However, the enhancement is not astonishing thus we expect that its successor will have even more horsepower. This year a four-cylinder 1.8-liter unit is going to be placed under the hood. It’s able to create 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. Driving system and transmission are going to depend on a trim level. There are three trim levels in total: LX, EX and EX-L Navi. The first two are coming with front-wheel drive and 6-speed manual gearbox while the third one is going to have CVT transmission system and, most likely, all-wheel drive. Safety is not an issue since this car comes with numerous features. Front and rear head airbags are included, and there’s even passenger airbag occupant sensing deactivation. Tire pressure monitoring, stability, and traction controls are also part of the safety system, as well as child safety locks.
Fuel Economy
Top speed of the 2017 Honda HR-V is 117 mph while it goes 0-60 mph in slightly above nine seconds. Fuel consumption depends on the transmission and driving system, but all levels should have quite similar fuel efficiency. EPA rating of the trims with manual transmission is 34/25 (28 mpg combined) while those with CVT transmission are rated at 35/28 (31 mpg combined). Trims with all-wheel drive are coming with fuel consumption of 32/27 (29 mpg combined).
Interior and Exterior
Height and width of the 2017 Honda HR-V won’t be changed, but the car is going to get some minor refreshments. Design modifications are going to be focused on the interior and outside we can expect new alloy wheels. Some rumors tell us it’ll get new bumpers and front lights but don’t take this to the bank. We heard through the grapevine that trim levels are going to look much more different on the inside. Seven-inch touch screen with new infotainment system is going to be part of every model. The new feature is Smartphone integration, something that is becoming a standard in the car industry. Leather seats can be found in all three trims as well as a moonroof. Some additional features are a Bluetooth connection and satellite radio. All in all, changes are focused on the technology used inside the car and design refreshments are neglected.
2017 Honda HR-V Price and Release Date
May 2017 is a month when the 2017 Honda HR-V is expected to come to the market. However, it can date can be changed and we hope to see it earlier, perhaps even in Detroit. Honda makes cheaper vehicles than its competitors in the US, and this is the case with HR-V, which price will be $19,215.
