Colorado is perhaps the most famous truck manufactured by Chevy. It is a mid-size truck, but if you put it in the category of full-sizes, you won’t make a huge mistake. 2017 Chevrolet Colorado is a new member of the family. It hasn’t been launched yet, but it should hit the market until the end of the year.
2017 Chevrolet Colorado Modifications
There’ll be numerous improvements and refreshments, but the main focus is on technology. The information display is going to be upgraded, and Apple CarPlay is used for the first time. Many car manufacturers started using this system in 2016 and Chevrolet is one of them since it always follows the latest trends. However, these are not the only improvements, and we’ll pay more attention to them in the following paragraphs.
Under the Hood
Different sources tell us a different story when it comes to the engine. There are several rumors which say new 2017 Chevrolet Colorado is going to get a 2.5-liter unit. According to the same source, this unit has a capability of delivering 200 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. This should be enough for every driver regardless of usage. Аs every pickup truck it needs to have a great towing capacity. New Colorado can tow up to 3,500lbs which is decent and should be enough for all of you who run small businesses. Unfortunately, we could get any info about its fuel efficiency.
The second option is more powerful and has a greater towing capacity. It is a 3.6-liter six-cylinder that can deliver 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. It can tow 7,000lbs which is twice as the first unit. Fuel economy of this engine depends on a driving system, but the difference is not huge. EPA rating of a two-wheel drive stands at 21mpg combined while the four-wheel driving system is rated at 20 mpg. However, there is one more unit. A 2.8-liter four-cylinder is going to be placed under the hood of LT and Z71 models. This unit comes with an output of 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. It means its towing capacity is greater than other two engines. Maximum towing capacity of the 2.8l is estimated at 7,700lbs.
Exterior
2017 Chevrolet Colorado won’t differ much from its predecessor in terms of styling. There are some refreshments, but generally, these two are going to resemble each other. It is believed that Chevy is going to reduce the weight of this pickup for around 900lbs. We don’t believe this rumor, but it’s possible that new Colorado will have few pounds less than the previous model. Allegedly, it is coming with new bumpers and side skirts. New fog lights will be added as well. More colors are added in order to please the most demanding customers. Some believe that it’s going to get a new set of LED headlamps, but let’s wait and see for the official confirmation.
Interior
The majority of modifications is focused on the interior. New infotainment system should be easier to handle, and its interface is slightly changed. In 2016 Chevy started installing Apple CarPlay and Colorado is going to get it for the first time. In addition, there are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection as well as 4G LTE connection.
The technology used in the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado is top-notch, but comfort was under the spotlight. Seats are wrapped in leather and provide extra comfort for all passengers. Unfortunately, only front seats are going to have a heating system, but we hope this feature will be added to all of them in the following years.
2017 Chevrolet Colorado Release Date and Price
There are few trim levels with a price range from $20,000 and $30,000. People disagree with the release date. Although the majority of them state the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado will be launched by the end of 2016, there are those who think it’ll happen next year.
