2018 Subaru Legacy Price and Specs

Subaru’s sixth generation of the Legacy has been released in 2014 and it came with quite a few improvements over the older model. However, while the car is a great family sedan, it can’t really match some of its newer rivals. Why? Well, it is based on a platform which dates all the way back in the ‘90s. There are still plenty of parts that bolt straight on between the third and last generation of the Legacy. Because of that many of us thought that Subaru was going to release an all new model with the 2018 Subaru Legacy.

Unfortunately, this is not really the case. Not that long ago they released the 2018 model which is nothing but a really small facelift. The car’s running gear has been revised but it still gets the same engines and roughly the same interior as well. 2018 Subaru Legacy Price and Details

In the future, we are certainly going to see a new Legacy but until then, this will have to do. The new model still is a great buy for some people. It offers plenty of space, rather efficient engines and a look that won’t age that fast. The Subaru Legacy 2018 car comes with quite a few improvements over what was already a good car. Some of the major upgrades have been done to its running gear. Subaru installed new shocks which should improve the ride and the NVH levels. The brake feel has been returned as well. Subaru didn’t say how but it seems the car’s brake booster may be new. With all of that, it also gets a new steering rack which should make it a bit more direct. The price has not been revealed just yet but considering everything new about the car; we wouldn’t expect big changes either. Th base price should still hover around $23,000 with the top end models costing little over $32,000. Closer to the car’s discontinuation we may also see one or more special edition models but that’s a few years away at this point.

Interior

Another area where the 2018 Subaru Legacy has been improved is inside the cabin. The design didn’t change all that much here. The instrument cluster is the same as before and the overall layout is the same. However, the car does get a new center console which houses a new infotainment system, less buttons and a cleverer design. The car’s new infotainment system should be nicer to use and also faster. It also sports two new LCD screens. The base model gets a 6.5 instead of a 6.2-inch unit while the higher end versions get an 8-inch unit. All cars come with Bluetooth, audio streaming, an USB port and an AUX jack. Higher end trim levels get smartphone screen mirroring, up to 4 USB ports and even TomTom navigation. The quality inside has increased slightly for the top end models with real stitched leather on the dashboard, gloss black trim inserts and even an all new interior color.

Exterior

The 2018 Subaru Legacy doesn’t look all that different from the older model. The front end is new with a slightly more aggressive wider grille and also lower and wider air intakes in the bumper. The rear also gets a new bumper with the exhausts moved upwards. This creates a slightly sportier look but the overall design is still very similar to the older model. New wheels have been added across the board but these don’t create the sporty appearance Subaru was looking for.

Under the Hood Of New Subaru Legacy 2018

Not much changed here for the 2018 Subaru Legacy. The car still comes with the same two engines as before. There is the base 2.5 liter naturally aspirated flat-four which provides up to 175 horsepower which will do up to 26 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway. The more powerful 3.6 liters flat-six engine, on the other hand, is only available on the top tier Limited version. This engine will provide 256 horsepower, and it remains completely unchanged. The CVT gearbox is still the same as well but it seems Subaru did improve the experience through a new software. Like always, their great all-wheel-drive system is available as standard across the range. The best part about it is the standard torque vectoring system which makes the Legacy better than most of its rivals at the limit.
