2018 Range Rover Velar Price

A short while ago the 2018 Range Rover Velar has been released, and so far the car has been received with quite a bit of praise. Most think it is a great step up from Land Rover’s usual roster of cars and we tend to agree with the majority. The car does feature plenty of kits, and it definitely has a unique character despite what can be found underneath the body. The Velar is actually mostly identical to the Jaguar F-Pace.

It shares the same aluminum chassis, most of the body panels are modified Jaguar panels, and the engines are the same as on the Jaguar. Despite that Land Rover managed to offer a unique result. The Velar is usually better built than the Jaguar counterpart. It is also considerably better equipped, and it should trump its sibling in off-road. All of this has been possible with extensive upgrades which make the Velar unique.

The price has been showcased a few days back. The base model is going to start right around $51,000 which is more than the Evoque but considerably less than the Sport. Even though it is more expensive than its sibling, the Velar comes with a similar engine. Like with most other luxury crossovers, though, this shouldn’t really be a problem. Most people will buy one to make a statement, and the Velar definitely has that covered. Even though it is based on the Jaguar, its design makes it stand out from a crowd.

Powertrain

As we said, the 2018 Range Rover Velar gets the same engines and platform as the F-Pace. The chassis is mostly made out of aluminum, but there is a good amount of high-strength steel and magnesium. This allows for a great amount of rigidity and lightness alike. The engines range from a 2 liter inline 4 to a 3 liter V6. The base model will hit the market with a 2 liter turbocharged inline four gas engine. This Ingenium unit will deliver 247 horsepower which is more than enough for most. In Europe Range Rover is also going to offer two diesel engines. These are part of the Ingenium family as well, and both of them have two liters of displacement. The base diesel will offer 180 horsepower, and 317 lb-ft of torque bumped to 240 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque for the top end version.

The top of the range model of the Velar will stick with a 3 liter supercharged V6, the same as in the F-Pace. However, the engine will make here 380 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. This is a 40 horsepower improvement over the base 3 liter V6 which is notable. Thanks to it the Velar should be able to outrun most of its competitors. Also, unlike its sibling, all wheel drive is going to be standard. The power will be sent from the engine via an eight-speed ZF automatic across the range. Unfortunately, a manual is unavailable which is usually the norm with a car this expensive.

Design – Inside and Out of 2018 Range Rover Velar

The interior has to be the most stunning part about the new 2018 Range Rover Velar. Here they spared no expense in order to develop one of the best interiors to date. In fact, we would go as far as saying the Velar looks more like a concept than an actual production car. The center stack is dominated by two large LCD high-resolution screens. The top one is the infotainment system and offers navigation directions. The lower screen, on the other hand, offers the driver and its passenger information about the car’s systems such as the climate control, the heated seats and offers touch functions that will allow the control of all the usual systems.

This panel will only light up when it is touched, so it should be quite surprising for most. The rear seat bench has been divided into two individual seats and a large center area, and the two-tone standard leather interior is considerably more impressive than the usual premium crossover. The car’s exterior design is mostly based on the Evoque or the Discovery Sport. However, its shape is the same as that of the F-Pace so even with the new design, it does resemble its sibling more than it should.
