2019 Toyota Tacoma Price, Specs, TRD Pro

Toyota released the 3rd generation of the Tacoma back at the end of 2015 and since then they actually continuously updated it. However, it now looks like the facelift for the truck might be on its way. Even though this has yet to be confirmed, it will more than likely happen in the near future. The truck to receive the update should be the 2019 Toyota Tacoma.

While at this point the details are still fuzzy, the new model should come with a revised set of engines, a different design and far more features than before. The one thing that will not change will be its price. It looks like Toyota will retain the pricing scheme for the Tacoma. This should allow them to challenge the class rival and it should make things considerably more difficult for GM.

New special models?

The upcoming Tacoma should still use the same platform as before. However, this time around the materials from which the frame will be made might be different. It looks like they could use more ultra-high strength steel in its construction. The result should be less weight and a slightly more durable frame which would increase the towing rating past 7,000 pounds. Even so, the Tacoma would still be lagging against its rivals but more on that a bit later.

2019 Toyota Tacoma Price

There is a TRD Pro currently available, but this starts at the north of $40,000. In fact, with options, the truck is more expensive than a Raptor which is far more capable. Because of that, it is safe to assume Toyota will release at least one more new version. The TRD Pro will become the off-road oriented version while the TRD Sport should be the one for street use. Both of these should cost roughly the same at $40,000. The big change will be the truck’s capabilities. While the price will stay the same, the new TRD Pro should come with far more power and a considerably better running gear.
Things like shocks with external reservoirs, far more wheel travel, bigger brakes and heavier duty skid plates should be standard. These alone should be well worth the money.

2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Change

Because the 2019 Toyota Tacoma will be just a mid-life facelift, we can expect the design to stay similar to its predecessor. The truck might get new headlights, a honeycomb grille on some models and a slightly different bumper. The big change will come with the TRD Pro. This should get off-road inspired bumpers, 17-inch rims wrapped in performance off-road tires as well as flared wheel arches. The Sport, on the other hand, might get closer to the ground and it might feature 19-inch rims. This could become the first street-oriented truck since the F-150 Lightning which would make things quite interesting on the market.

Interior

When they revealed the current truck, everyone was amazed at how good the interior looked. Unfortunately, we won’t be as amazed as before mainly because the upcoming Tacoma will not change all that much. The interior of the 2019 Toyota Tacoma should stay roughly the same as before. The big difference over its predecessor will be the available features. It looks like the higher end models will come with a larger infotainment screen, better speakers, and even more safety gear. The materials will likely improve as well, but this should be true only for the mid-range models which aren’t as good as they should.

Specs and Engine

Both the 2.7 liters and the 3.5 liter V6 will be carried over mostly unchanged. The four-cylinder will offer around 160 horsepower, but the V6 will get a boost. It looks like industry experts think the new V6 will make closer to 300 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. This will further aid it with the towing capacity and off-the-line performance.
The big change for the Tacoma will likely come with the new TRD Pro. If the rumors are correct, then the new Tacoma should get a 3.0 or 3.5 liter twin-turbo V6. With as much as 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, this should allow the off-road oriented Tacoma to trump its rivals. In order to make use of that power, this version of the truck should get four-wheel drive, and likely a different 8-speed transmission, as standard.
