Jeep just updated the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, but it seems they are not done just yet. A small update is also expected to be released with the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. This could include an upgraded interior and likely a more capable running gear. According to jeepequipment.com, this and car’s awesome 18″ wheel should allow the car to drive better not just in off-road but also on the road.
2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Price
The price is likely going to remain roughly the same as before. This means the base version will stay at roughly $43,000 with its top end versions going for more than $50,000. Even the price would be more than that of the usual car; it would still be well worth it due to all upgrades it would offer.
In Detail
The 2018 Trailhawk is not going to be a fully re-engineered car. Instead, it will be a small facelift of the ongoing model. This means that it will continue to rock the same aging Mercedes-based chassis as before. While this is fine for most tasks, it is not the best out there. However, Jeep managed to improve it to a very competitive level. The 2018 car is expected to boast an even better off-road system and a new running gear. The air suspension setup might get replaced with regular springs and shocks. This type of suspension would definitely reduce body roll, and it would improve the way the car performs in off-road. However, it would also mean that it wouldn’t be as efficient as its counterpart, so this might not happen for the production model.
Design
Not much is going to change about the looks of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. The car will continue to boast the over the top design which made it so popular. Despite that, some suggested that it may receive the grille from the Trackhawk with the lower air intakes. The bumper is still going to feature the same two red towing hooks as before while in the rear a tow-hook will also be installed. The 18-inch rims are expected to stay, at least on the base model. However, this model is expected to receive higher performance off-road tires. An optional set of 20-inch rims, wider tires, as well as a highly aggressive sticker package, will also be available. Rumors also suggested a few more paint options, but this hasn’t been confirmed just yet.
Inside the Cabin
Here the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will likely be mostly the same as the 2017 car. The infotainment system will remain the same 8.4-inch uConnect unit. Luckily this happens to be one of the best in its class. The front bucket seats wrapped in a cloth and leather mix, as well as the contrasting stitching, will also be carried over. There are also rumors about it receiving a rotary gear shifting system, but we do hope this is not going to happen.
2018 Trailhawk Specs and Engine
The base model of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will use a 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6. This could get a small boost to around 300 horsepower and over 270 lb-ft of torque. The fuel consumption of the V6 is likely going to stay the same which is always a good trade-off. For those looking for more Jeep is also going to offer their EcoDiesel. This 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesel will provide 240 horsepower and well over 400 lb-ft of torque. The range-topping engine will be a 5.7 liter V8 with 360 horsepower with the only drawback being the fuel consumption. All three engines will come as standard mated to an eight-speed automatic and Jeep’s Quadra II all-wheel-drive system. This includes a low-range transfer box as well as a limited-slip rear differential. Rumors also suggested that the car could get an electronic center differential which would definitely make it considerably more capable than its predecessor. While these are the confirmed engines for the 2018 model, a fourth one may be in store. Jeep may decide to offer either their upcoming 2-liter turbo four with 300 horsepower or even a new generation diesel. Either of these should be more than enough for most. Unfortunately, though none of them has been confirmed so far which is a shame. We still hope they’ll offer something a bit more interesting than their current lineup.
