Introduced back in 2012, the battery-powered Tesla Model S is still in production and available in several different versions. It’s an all-electric five-door liftback car, classified as full-size luxury car in the United States.

Versions and alterations

The Tesla Model S has been produced in several different versions, depending on which battery size, motor size and equipment that the buyer wanted. At the time of writing, cars with batteries in the 60 kWh – 90 kWh range are no longer being produced – all new cars come with the 100 kWh battery. The Model S versions that are available as of January 2019 are 100D and P100D.

2016 alterations

In April 2016, Tesla Inc made certain design changes to the Model S which made it more similar to Model X. Among other things, adaptive LED headlights were added, as well as a HEPA cabin air filtration system. The standard 40 amps charger was discontinued in favor of a 48 amps charger, to facilitate faster charging time at higher-amperage outlets.
