Tesla Model Y Tweet

If you follow Elon Musk’s Twitter profile then you probably know what we are talking about. A couple of months ago he posted: “…there will be a Model 3 and a Model Y. One of the two will”. We were lucky to catch a glimpse of this tweet because he immediately deleted it. This was a response to a question asked by one of his followers who asked if Model 3 would have Falcon Doors.

This tweet sparkled rumors about new a completely new car. As you all know Model 3 doesn’t have Falcon Doors and there are no indications it is going to get them in the near future. This can mean only one thing – next vehicle manufactured by Tesla Motors is going to be Tesla Model Y.

Typo or Not?

Okay, let’s come down to earth now. Perhaps it was just a typo and Musk wanted to write: ”…a Model 3 and a Model S…”. It is not so unbelievable since letter S is right above Y on English (UK) keyboard. There is a chance that he had just made a mistake, realized it and deleted the tweet. On other hand, he could have rewritten it but he didn’t. He did nothing else. Ever since the tweet was posted on his profile he hasn’t mentioned anything about Tesla Model Y. He could have commented this tweet, but he didn’t. Maybe he just likes the tension he caused.

What if Tesla Model Y is Real?

If Tesla Model Y is indeed a real vehicle and Elon Musk didn’t make a mistake, then we are sure in only one thing – it’s going to have Falcon Doors. These doors are designed by Franz von Holzhausen and are part of Model X. Doors which go up are not revolutionary in the car world, but Falcon Wings have a special design. Thanks to them people who sit at the back cannot hit a head against the roof. We’re looking forward to seeing them at the front and perhaps von Holzhausen will lend an ear to us.

Tesla models S, 3 and X

It’s really difficult to predict other features and characteristics, such as size, design, etc. However, we can assume Tesla Model Y would take after Model 3. This is the latest model launched by Tesla Motors and it hit the market at the end of March. It comes with mile range of 215 miles and astonishing acceleration – 0-60 mph in under 6 seconds. You may disagree that acceleration is great, but bear in mind this is an electric car. Future models are supposed to have even better mile range, thus we can assume if Tesla Model Y turns out to be real it’ll have better characteristics than Model 3.

What Price to Expect?

Tesla Motors is dedicated to manufacturing eco-friendly cars which prices don’t go through the roof. Despite their goal Model X and Model S are pricey. They are not targeting an average customer, but wealthy people who can afford luxurious cars. Everything has changed this year when the price of the Tesla Model 3 was published. It’s the first car coming out Tesla’s factories which can be considered as affordable. It costs $35,000, way less than the other two.
